Attorney Carla Cox received her undergraduate degree in 1976 from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, (B.A. in Government and Foreign Relations), and her law degree in 1979 from Boston College Law School in Chestnut Hill, MA (J.D.).

Prior to forming Handly & Cox, P.C. in 1994, Carla practiced public and private law in the following law offices:

1979-1981: Special Assistant Corporation Counsel, City of Boston Law Department. Handled a heavy caseload of real estate tax collection litigation cases in Boston Municipal Court and Suffolk Superior Court.

1981-1983: Associate: Law Offices of Richard E. Blumsack, Somerville, MA. Handled an extensive caseload of civil litigation, domestic relations litigation, real estate development and business transactions.

1983-1994: Partner, Ardiff & Morse, PC, Danvers, MA. Handled a wide variety of real estate and business matters, including residential conveyances and commercial loans, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, condominium conversion and leasing.

Some of her Continuing Legal Education articles include "Negotiating Leases in the Current Market" (1992), "Negotiating Leases in the Current Market: What Has Changed?" (1993) and "Representing Retail Companies" (1994).
